Safety, Safety, Safety! The truck restraint holds the truck secure to the building and the dock plate, preventing accidents. The braking force of a tow motor can push the truck away from the building causing the tow motor to fall between the truck and dock. The traffic lights co-ordinated with the truck restraint tells the truck driver and tow motor operator when it is safe to load and then exit the truck once it is loaded.
